Hundreds of celebrities, athletes, poker players, and VIP’s were invited to the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational at Commerce Casino. The event began on Saturday, Feb. 28 and the final six players still remained on Monday, March 3 to play at the televised final table. Among them were notable professionals Freddy Deeb and Scott Clements, and the last celebrity left in the event, Nick Gonzalez. The final table began at 4 p.m. and here is how the chip stacks looked when things got started:

Jose Tavares was the first player to leave the final table when his A-Q ran into the pocket aces of Gonzalez, which sent Tavares to the rail in sixth place ($5,000). Clements claimed the second knockout punch at the final table when his pocket eights topped the K-J of Ottavio Tassone, who exited in fifth place ($10,000). Clements took the chip lead after the hand, but Deeb and Gonzalez each took a turn doubling up at Clements’ expense. Clements was the short stack when he decided to move all in with A-9, and he had Tom Hall (A-3) dominated preflop. That was when the board ran out 3-3-2-J-2 and eliminated Clements in fourth place ($15,000).

The final three players then traded punches for 31 hands before another was forced to leave the table when he ran out of chips. Hall took home $20,000 for his third-place finish after his Q-J ran into Deeb’s pocket sevens on a board of Q-7-5-5-2. The very next hand was the final hand of the tournament. Gonzalez moved all in preflop for 1.25 million and Deeb had him well covered with 6.85 million behind. Deeb made the call with pocket eights and Gonzalez held A-6. The board fell J-7-3-6-K to give Deeb the victory and eliminate Gonzalez in second place ($50,000). Deeb took home $100,000 for the win, which gives him more than $6 million in career tournament winnings. This is the second WPT tile for Deeb, who also won the Aruba Poker Classic during season IV.
